What does it mean to ‘’Develop your entrepreneurial skills?’’

Entrepreneurial skills are a bit of an undefined skillset – many people define these skills differently. Examples of them that are often mentioned are: willingness to learn, ability to listen, creativity, courage, risk-taking, good communication and sales, but there are many, many more. But even though people define these skills differently every time, there is one thing that a lot of definitions have in common: entrepreneurial skills can be learned. When you are an ambitious person and you are willing to learn new skills, then you are already on track.

How do you learn entrepreneurial skills?

Like with many other skills we acquire during our lives, most entrepreneurial skills we learn from others by observing and copying what they do. While learning from others, you must stay critical and not afraid of your own ideas. Once you embrace your own creativity and start executing your own ideas or improvements, you are acting as an entrepreneur.

Where can you learn entrepreneurial skills?

Do you want to learn these new skills? Then an internship would be perfect for you! You can do an internship either in The Netherlands or abroad. If you want to stay in The Netherlands, organisations like ‘’Studentenvacature’’ can help you to find the perfect internships at one of several companies throughout the country*. Whether you’re looking for something in accounting, marketing, or logistics – there will always be the perfect internship for you.

An extra challenge

If you fancy an internship abroad, then AIESEC is a good option. Take the Global Entrepreneur project for example. During a 6-12 week-long project, you will work in a start-up company, where you will have the chance to help to improve their businesses through your creative ideas. You will get the space to analyse the business and create ideas for the company to improve its day-to-day activities.
We offer Global Entrepreneur projects all over the world. Plus, besides different countries, you will also have several different kinds of projects to choose from, equalling several different entrepreneurial skills that you can learn. Most opportunities focus on either Internationalisation, Marketing & Positioning, Sales & Prospection and Graphic Design. But whatever country or project has your preference, you will have the chance to bring out the entrepreneur in yourself.
