We help international trainees come to the Netherlands by assisting them with formalities, such as Visa, municipality, and insurance.
All trainees are guided throughout their exchange by a member of AIESEC in the Netherlands. They will coach them during the internships and assist them in setting and achieving personal goals.
We offer each trainee at least three suitable housing options.
We regularly organise social events for our trainees, such as trips to various cities and drinks with local AIESEC offices. Trainees are also invited to our National Conferences.

Your local AIESEC office will contact you to set up a meeting. In this meeting you can elaborate on the internship and we will explain our process.
Sign our contract in which we clearly state mutual responsibilities and expectations. Together we draw up a profile of the internship and desired background of the intern(s). The internship is uploaded to our online portal where students can easily apply.
After a maximum of four weeks, we present a number of candidates that match your profile. In the end, you select the final candidates.
Together with the interns we take care of all formalities, such as visa application and we assist in finding housing. After arrival in the Netherlands, we take care of reception and support. This includes pick-up from the airport or train station and accompanying the trainee to the first day of work.

What does AIESEC do?
AIESEC is a global platform for young people to explore and develop their leadership potential. We are a non-political, independent, not-for- profit organization run by students and recent graduates of higher education.
AIESEC in the Netherlands connects talented students and recent graduates with promising businesses in the Netherlands. We aim to develop students through these experience and support them in further developing their skill set. Also, with our service we aim to bring value to all the companies we work with through international talent.
Since we were founded, we have engaged and developed over 1,000,000 young people who have been through an AIESEC experience. Last year we have connected 5000 students and recent graduates to companies worldwide. The impact of our organisation can be seen in all businesses we have worked with, including accounts like NIKE, DAF Trucks, and ING.
What is the timeline of the AIESEC service?
As soon as the contract is signed the local team will start looking for promising candidates on our opportunities portal. Within 20 working days the first candidates (approximately 5) will be proposed. Within 10 working days the company is expected to have responded to the proposed candidates. This process repeats itself until the right candidates have been
found. When the company agrees with the proposed candidates, interviews will be held with the candidates by AIESEC to test several aspects, e.g. motivation. We highly suggest the company also to conduct interviews.
When a trainee has been selected we start the process of getting him/her to the Netherlands. The process time depends on whether the student is European or non-European. In general, European students can start working within 4 weeks. Non-European students will have to apply for a Visa, a process that may take up to 2 months depending on the IND (Immigratie en Naturalisatie Dienst). Therefore, non-European students usually are able to start working within 3 months after the selection.
*The process time is highly dependent on the responsiveness of companies.
Is there a difference between EU and non-EU students?
Yes, there is. European students are able to travel to and work in the Netherlands without a Visa. Non-European students are not able to work in the Netherlands without a Visa. The Visa we apply for in the name of our trainees is the GVVA. This Visa includes both living and working in the Netherlands. The GVVA is a Visa that is specifically for learning and developing experiences for foreign students in the Netherlands.
What is the added value of an AIESEC trainee over a regular intern?
There are three reasons for choosing AIESEC to help you find international talent for you company.
First, AIESEC is a complete service. This means that we take care of all steps along the way, from the home country to the first day of work. This includes housing support and Visa application, but also setting up bank accounts and subscribing at the municipality.
Second, AIESEC trainees are of great value to many companies. They bring new skills, e.g. IT skills, a global perspective that supports innovation, and international market knowledge that supports expansions and market research, to the company
Finally, AIESEC trainees are socially supported throughout the whole experience. AIESEC ensures that the trainees are comfortable living in the Netherlands and AIESEC has regular check-ins with the trainee and company to ensure that the experience is optimal for both parties.
Is there a possibility for the trainee to stay after the traineeship ends?
Yes, if there is a mutual consent between the trainee and the company, the trainee is free to stay. We do not charge any additional fees. However, extending a traineeship is not part of our service. If the company decides to extend the traineeship or hire the trainee, the formalities will have to be handled by the company itself.
What kind of business can work with AIESEC?
All types of businesses and companies can work with AIESEC. Our partners range from start-ups to multinationals. Our worldwide talent pool consists of students and recent graduates from all sorts of backgrounds.
The majority of the trainees we match to companies in the Netherlands are IT-skilled, have a business administration background, or bring specific market knowledge to a company (e.g. the French market). The companies that make use of our service are therefore usually exporting and internationally-oriented and/or IT-companies. However, our service would fit any company that is in need of young talent.
