What is the difference between GV, GE and GT?

Once you start thinking about going abroad with AIESEC, the first step is to pick the product (GV, GE or GT) that fits you best. But how would you know what would suit your wishes?
Let’s start with knowing what the products are.

The beauty of volunteering

Firstly, AIESEC offers the ‘Global Volunteer’ (GV) product in which you will do voluntary work abroad for an NGO or a non-profit organisation. These projects last between 6 to 12 weeks and all projects are linked to one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. These projects go from teaching English to children in Sri Lanka, to Empowering women in India, and from promoting tourism in Indonesia to bridging the gap between the Middle East and the Western world. Since these projects are completely voluntary and help is really needed, it is relatively easy to get accepted for a Global Volunteer.

Develop the entrepreneur in you

Secondly, AIESEC offers the ‘Global  Entrepreneur’ (GE) product. This product is perfect if you would like to work in a small company in which you will have a lot of impact on how the company operates as you will be working in a start-up company. The duration of this internship is also 6 to 12 weeks and you will get the chance to experience a completely different culture whilst working in a dynamic environment. To get the internship, you will have to write an application letter and do interviews with AIESEC and the start-up company.

Looking for a professional internship?

Last but not least, we have the ‘Global Talent’ (GT). This product is perfect if you are looking for a professional working experience. This internship will help you develop yourself and is a boost for your resume. You will be working for a professional company for 3 to 18 months and you will get paid to do the work! Since this is a professional internship, you will have to do a few solicitation rounds, both with AIESEC and with the company itself.

What’s more?

Okay, so at this point you already kind of have an idea what the different products are and you might also already know what suits you best. However, there are a few more differences you
should take into account. Housing for example.

AIESEC generally helps you to find a place to stay during the time of your project. When you do a GV or a GE, the costs for this accommodation is covered most of the time, however, if you do a GT, you are expected to pay the accommodation costs out of your salary.

It also is a big difference whether you will work for an NGO, a start-up or a bigger company, they will all bring you a totally different experience, but with different experiences will also come different personal development.

So, have you made up your mind? Let’s pick a country then!
