Why do I need to pay 324€ to volunteer with AIESEC?
AIESEC is a not-for-profit, student-run organisation. So why do you need to pay 349€ to volunteer with us? Where does this money go? Let’s break it down!
25€ Deposit
Yes, you’ll get this money back! All you have to do is finish your experience, fill in the different feedback forms on aiesec.nl and submit one story or picture of your experience, and you’re good to go!
51,89€ VAT (value-added tax)
21% of your fee goes to the Dutch state, as AIESEC has to pay taxes over its operations like any other enterprise. In actual numbers, this comes down to 51,90€.
100€ to the Member Committee (“MC”)
A group of nine very dedicated people, work full-time on keeping AIESEC The Netherlands up and running as the “MC”. They receive 100€ (part of which goes to AIESEC International) to finance the organization as a whole, including this website.
147,11€ to your local AIESEC office
The rest of the money stays at your local AIESEC office and is directly invested in making sure that you and others around you will have the experience of a lifetime. This includes preparation and reintegration seminars for all volunteers that go abroad, posters and flyers to share AIESEC’s vision, and events like the World’s Largest Lesson that teaches local school children about the importance of the Sustainable Development Goals.
And that makes 324€!
AIESEC is a non-profit organization, which means that we reinvest all of the money in the organization. Furthermore, volunteers are running AIESEC like myself. We get paid in experiences and feedback rather than money.
I hope that answers your question! If you want more details, feel free to contact your local AIESEC office at any time!
